Hello I'm having a problem with my BMW 328XI. My reverse is all of a sudden not working. I've been seeing that it could be my Gear Selector Valve. Am I capable of removing this part without having to take the whole transmission out? Thanks in advance.

Well if you don't mind getting dirty,All you need to do is drop the pan, remove the valve body, and replace the valve ( which seems to break a lot it's just plastic ) Reinstall and fill with fluid.

When removing the valve body, if the transmission is still in place, will the valve springs and gaskets not fall out from underneath valve body when removed?

The valve body should stay in tact as one unit, but you should replace all gaskets involved. The only thing that may fall out is your broken part.
