it should have been setup (clearanced ) when installed..and shims come with the most starters free.... never charged anyone for a shim/s. so of these places just throw that stuff on and just because it turns over the engine, leave it at that..

I just did my chev and they were supplied with. the starter nosecone loses material during the cleaning process. it gets closer, so you have to space with one, 1/2 one, two, or combinations and use a paperclip. Frustrating to the tech who is only getting a few minutes to make ice cream outta caca.

Lets say, a starter pays .8 hr to install. Thats all he gets. now if the part supplied has been modified by the reman supplier? they wrote the time guide brfore this problem of starter align was realized. If they don't charge for their time, that means they ate it. I had mine installed, removed and installed several times, and made a shim combination to perfect it. with the gear out and engaged with the flexplate, the paperclip fits and the mesh is exact. I had to make one starter out of 3 of their "remanglfactred" ones. If I had to charge for my time and parts running? lotsa pesos. Amigo.
