Sudden Death

Asked by pokara96 Feb 28, 2019 at 06:57 PM about the 2008 MINI Cooper S

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2008 Mini Cooper S goes from 80mph to dead with no noise, no notice.
Seems like an electrical problem, but mechanic said it was a drive belt and
that I needed to replace the engine. Thoughts?

Mini Cooper timing chains are known to fail ...... They use plastic guides that deteriorate and break off which later causes the timing chain to fail. ......

ATTENTION! There is a recall on this vehicle for bad timing drive systems, write down the VIN then call your local dealer. I hope this helps. Take care.
