I have a 2008 Mini hatchback and mistakenly put 89 level gas in the gas tank. The car lost power and the check engine light came on. Can I just refil the tank with 91 level gas?

I'd get the code diagnosed 1st, since even filling with super won't clear the fault, then ask the mech if there's an additive to boost the octane of what's in the tank. I usually alternate between hi 93 and + 91 in my 06 S, with good performance. GL
