When driving my 2008 nissan altima it misses/putts,my service engine light stays on ,it has 189,000 miles on it, and also on cool days i don't need to put the heater on because the heat that comes through the vents make you think the heater is on and it is not on, but when i bring it somewhere and put it up on the rack, they claim they can't find anything.ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS,WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Have someone check engine fault codes with an OBD-II scanner. Some places will do this for free. AAMCO and Auto Zone offer this service. This will at least give you an idea of where to start. Many times it could be something simple like a clogged air filter, fouled spark plug, or dirty MAF sensor.
