I have a regular 3 pin plug on a short cord infront of my radiator and behind the grille on my 2008 ford ranger. what is it for?

Thank you TS. How cold does it need to be before I need to use it? I live in NE Ohio, and how long does it needed to be plugged in for to be effective?

Use it when you have a hard time starting your truck but you will basically need to leave it plugged in all night for it to do any good.
