Car not starting up

Asked by Josh Dec 30, 2018 at 04:49 PM about the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I was driving around just fine then one day I went to start it and the starter would not crank at all, so I immediately thought it was I bad battery. So I got it jumped and it started up just fine. Later that day I went to get a new battery, I made sure it was hooked up properly and it kept doing the same thing whenever I turn the key all the lights come one but the starter doesn't crank. Is it my alternator? What is going on?

Well starter just had one more start in it. But trust me it is the starter. You can try this it may or may not work but try tapping on the starter with a hammer and have some one try to start vehicle at the same time if it starts starter is bad.

Well, from my experience, the ignition wire that connected to the back of the starter is not making a good contact because it's just push-in at the back of the starter relay. Try to clean the connector with contact cleaner or crimp the terminal tighter to make a good connection. This caused by corrosion of the terminal after 10 years exposed to the element. Try this before spending money for a new starter.
