why does my 08' avalanche run 40 psi oil pressure cold after oil gets hot pressure drops below 20 psi

Oil is thicker when its cold along with engine clearances being tighter less room to push the oil through requires more pressure as it warms up oil thins, and engine clearances open up reducing the pressure. Wear on the pump cause a gradual reduction in pressure overtime too.
