08 Dodge Ram

Asked by Jared Aug 08, 2017 at 12:45 AM about the 2008 Dodge RAM 1500 ST RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 08 Ram 1500 overheated on the
interstate and blew the coolant, I stopped
at a station and let it cool down
immediately. Filled coolant back up and
checked oil, everything was good. Got
back on the interstate and it immediately
overheated again, thinking maybe it was a
stuck thermostat, I pulled to the side of the
road, as I did, it died. No smoking or
steam. Never started back up, wouldn't
crank with the key. I drained the oil no
milky substance or water. I pulled all the
plugs, no water or moisture. With plugs
out, I put a wrench on the crank and turned
it. It'll crank over probably 3/4 of the way
and come to a dead stop. Just wondering
if it might be a valve or a timing chain and
how could one tell. It's a 4.7 liter flex fuel.
2x4.
