Heater noise?

When I run the heat on low, after the cooling fan spins and stops, I hear a slight
whistling/grinding noise. Almost like dry pulley bearings. It makes a short noise
then stops. Then repeats every time the fan kicks in and stops. Is this the fan or
some kind of pulley? I only hear it when I sit inside the car, If I listen under the
hood the sound is drowned out by engine noise. 09 Corolla Sport. 120 k miles.

You could probably take the motor apart and lube the bearings but most people should just replace the motor.

Just to clarify, I don't turn off the heater, it continues to run on low, the cooling fan is the one in the front of the car. That is the fan that starts and stops ever few seconds. When that starts and stops is when I hear the noise. I don't know if that changes your answers or not.
