2009 Toyota Corolla Manual Transmission

Asked by Lan Oct 22, 2018 at 07:47 AM about the 2009 Toyota Corolla S

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving into work this morning and as I was accelerating out of third
gear, it felt like the engine "hiccuped" or sputtered, then the check engine
light and VSC OFF lights started blinking.  It felt like second gear was a bit
labored, and it was idling really low and sputtering.  Once I got to work, I
parked and restarted the car.  The lights were off, but the engine was still
idling low and sputtering.  I'm scared to drive it again and have the lights
come back on!

I would just drive it to your local auto parts store or any place that checks check engine lights for free and see if the computer is throwing any codes and then go from there.

Also, if you are new at stick shift, you could've shifted into second too early, and then popped the clutch out of third
