transmition will only work if I put it in third

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

If I put the car in third it will shift till it gets to third.
But if I put it in drive it gets to about 25mph  then
quits pulling and rpms jump up. What is this abd
how can I fix it

It may be just a solenoid that could be replaced, or there is a problem with the second gear. Should go to a transmission shop for proper diagnosis.
