Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok so my check engine light had been going on and
off, was able to get it read and it is coming up with
cylinder one misfire. I have changed spark plugs, o2
sensors, 3 coils on the right side where I'm getting
the mis fire from and my plentam gaskets. Any
suggestions on what could be the problem?

P0301 DODGE - Cylinder Misfire Fault Detected... Possible causes... - Faulty spark plug 1 - Clogged or faulty fuel injector 1 - Faulty ignition coil 1 - Fuel injector 1 harness is open or shorted - Fuel injector 1 circuit poor electrical connection - Ignition coil 1 harness is open or shorted - Ignition coil 1 circuit poor electrical connection - Insufficient cylinder 1 compression - Incorrect fuel pressure - Intake air leak... The P0301 code means that the cylinder 1 is misfiring or is randomly misfiring. Start by checking for intake leaks an if no leaks are found the next step is to replace the spark plugs on cylinder 1. If the problem persist more tests needs to be done to diagnose problem, Engine Cylinder 1 is misfiring. Possible symptoms... - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light) - Lack/loss of power - Hard start - Engine hesitation

Ok so I guess my next step is to check for leaks because I have changed the spark plugs and I have 3 of the ignition coils on the side where the misfire is coming from. Also today my light for my electronic throttle control flashed on and then my RPM started going up and down while I was idling. Does that tie into the misfire

Possible, but there is a control module down by the gas pedal, that and the Throttle Positioning Sensor on the side of the throttle body. Check for vacuum leaks on a cooled off engine with it running at idle, by using some carburetor cleaner around any vacuum source. Where there is a vacuum leak the rpms of the engine will pick up slightly, or the engine will die.

Do not do this on a hot engine, carburetor cleaner is extremely flammable. I have do this hundreds of times, and have not had a fire, just be aware of this.
