Can you manually close a sunroof on a lincoln mkx?

You can but you have to remove the roof liner and manually pull the cord to shut it

My 2013 MKX sunroof will not close and the dealership is saying that the rails are broken and it will cost $2,400 to fix!!! ouch!!! why so much??????
