when i press the gas pedal with the car in park the engines revs for just a
second and them does not work. i let off the gas pedal and press it again and
nothing happens

i would take it to the dealer since they have had some transmision issues for that ...u might get lucky as they have ecm update for that issue ...call ford and give them your vin and ask if there is an update for that issue....
