Why does Jeep say to disconnect negative battery cable when the vehicle is towed?

Question type: General

In the manual it says to disconnect the negative battery cable while you are towing
the vehicle. Why? and what can happen if you don't? By doing so you loose
everything that is stored in the radio and nav systems.

The only thing I can think of is to protect the transfer case motor from accidental actuation.
