2008 G6 ignition replacement

Asked by Guru9XX7GB May 12, 2021 at 03:18 PM about the 2008 Pontiac G6 Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 Pontiac G6 I had lost the key for my
vehicle. I went to junkyard got a new ignition with
key and key fob. I pulled out old ignition and put in
the new ignition then started to program the key.
Before I finished programming the new ignition the
previous owner called and told me they had a key
for the old ignition. I wanted the old ignition to
match the doors so I went back to trying to
program the old ignition now I can get neither
ignition and key to program please help

You'll want to have the car towed to a GM dealer so they can hook up the vehicle with the proper scan tool to program a new key. What procedure were you using?

Exactly! On a GM you need to have one working key to program additional keys to the vehicle yourself. Otherwise you'll have to get the key programmed by the Dealer. Hope that helps! Jim
