What causes an "Engine Power Reduced" on the dash display?

Asked by PCCorvette1978 May 13, 2023 at 02:02 PM about the 2008 Cadillac DTS Luxury II FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My wife was going to work and suddenly the engine slowed down and the dash
display started displaying "Engine Power Reduced" along with "Service
Stablitrack" as well as "Service Traction Control." She'd had no previous trouble
with this car. What caused it and is something I can repair myself? Thank You!

gat trouble codes from the computer... go to pep boys or o'reiley's or a trusted shop to get all trouble codes.

Even with trouble codes, you'll need a mechanic to tell you exactly what went wrong. After you get his repair estimate, you can decide if it's something you can do yourself. Hw should even give you a replacement parts list.
