My 2008 H2 shuts off after a long drive

Asked by hummerdawg Aug 14, 2014 at 12:37 AM about the 2008 Hummer H2 Luxury

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

If I drive over 15 miles it shuts off after I get off of the freeway, When the rpms drop to idle it shuts off. took it to the dealer and they are guessing. they are now telling me I might need a new engine. The engine has no noise or any smoke coming from it. sound like the dealer is clueless. Any help would be great.

Well you got the clueless dealer part right. Look around for someone else. Someone who fixes things, not throw parts.

Check your fluid levels. Sometimes that could be an indication your low on fluids. Contact me if your interested in selling it i have a 2004 and ive never had any major issues your truck is fine.

Ck your engine temp sensor on driver side of engine block for broken wire or plug had a very similar problem. Had a good honest mechanic (rare). Could have fixed myself but for about 10 bucks but let him fix for $100. for his honesty worth it to me.
