Problems with radio on 2008 Explorer

Asked by Gail Jul 26, 2015 at 09:53 AM about the 2008 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

have a 2008 Explorer.. my radio does not run from the dash console.. there is  no display and my CD player is hit or miss.. if I touch a button on the console it goes back to AM radio .. and sometimes It wont spit out the CD ... HOWEVER , if I use the controls on the steering wheel the radio works.. but only has the preset channels.. Any idea how to fix this? I heard it could be a memory fuse... any idea where this is ?  I can't find it in the normal fuse panel..

The problem with electronic automobile radios is it cost more to bench test and repair the radio than it does to replace it. And this takes into consideration you removing the radio and bringing it to a repair facility. Check the net for the cost of a duplicate radio, you will probably be surprised.
