Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was drivng my 2008 Nissan Versa Sl friday night and  I went out and it was
already low on fuel didn't feel like stopping so kept driving. Got to my
destination and everything good. Get back in car to drive home this time low
fuel light came on telling me to get gas i was almost home when the low fuel
light came on I was tired and decided just to drive home. i could not park
under the carport at my apts like I usually do so had to park out in the open.
Theh next dayI  din't go anywhere until evening so the car sat in the 90
decree the next day and my car sit out in the hot sun about 90 degree's too.
So I got in it low fuel light still on car started fine backed out ok when into
drive okay was pulling out through our security gate and poof into limp mode.
i had never heard of limp mode so i thought i was out of gas. The car would
only drive like 5 miles an hour so I limped to the gas station across the street
to the velareo store and got 9 dols gas. Car started fine but hesitated a
couple times but then ran fine. a couple times like wasn't getting enough gas
on the way to the grocery store after I got the 9 in gas  I drove it to he
grocery store down the street and it ran fine. Got in it to go home from the
store started up backed out and drove about about a block from my apt went
into  limp mode again this time would not fix itself. now this is where, And
there it sits? I hope it is not the fuel pump but the fact I let it run low on gas
could that have car. Now about 2 months ago I had to get a new battery and
I hear a little whining. Now loud just a low whine my other car it was the
alternator. But I had asked them to check it when they changed the battery if
they did I don't know. Would me driving it with low fuel cause the fuel pump
to go out. is there anything I can clean I know there is not a filter to buy
cause it has an inline . then I read sitting out in the hot 90 degree sun could
of heated something on the floor board. One more thing the whole time the
car was acting up the engine light never came on. But it did when i kept
starting it and backing out it got out of limp mode couple times but would go
right back in. So please tell this 66 year old grandma what is wrong with my
Henry.

Well I know there is a code stored but I cannot get it fixed until Friday and every time I take my car in for a repair the mechanic always charges me a 1000 or more for repairs. I wanted at least an idea this time. Believe it or not some mechanics take advantage especially if you have no idea what is wrong. It could be something simple and they charge for a new motor. I wanted an idea what it could be.

I cannot get the code until the mechanic comes in town It is my sisters mechanic I was just worrying myself to death. I was hoping it isn't the fuel pump. I have not had one bit of trouble with that car until I let the fuel light come on and let it run low on gas. Would that make the fuel pump go bad. I am hoping it is trash in the injectors. at least they can be cleaned I hope. I have had several cars and the gas light came on. I would get gas and no problem. this is the first nissan I owned. I still don't think it should of died on me for just letting the car get on empty. maybe there was trash in the bottom of the tank maybe I did let it run bone dry and it sucked up a lot of trash that I was not aware of. Thank you so much I was just asking if someone may of had this same thing and could put my mind at ease. A fuel pump is around 800 dollars for my car they said I do not even have that kind of money I am 66 years old and on social security and that is it. If it is the fuel pump I am done for. Just worrying and worrying
