Will a leak in Q7 affect the MMI system.

Asked by Wanttoknow Feb 28, 2014 at 09:30 AM about the 2008 Audi Q7 3.6 quattro AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Under impression that system stopped due to spillage.  Now service is saying that they
saw water spots on the system when taken apart and could be coming from a leak
somewhere in the car.  Asked me if I have seen wet spots in the trunk area.

Any water in MMI will kill it. There is a small chance it can dry out and work but that chance is small.

A latte killed mine... about $1,000 to fix. Looks like a bear to do yourself.

Yes, I had to have mine replaced. Make sure they clean it well .. My child spilled cola in there. Blinking has stopped on the left side of the MMI console but everything works right. Blinks on and off now. Not noticeable during the day but at night. BUT my Audi guy said water will dry out .. Soda is the culprit due to the stickyness caused when it starts to get hot. Good luck .. It's a $2500 fix or was for me

Check your sunroofs. Had water leaking that traveled down to MMI and chaos ensued....
