What would cause a 2008 Saturn Aura to turn off on its own?

I have a 2008 saturn aura, which will start normally, but after a small distance of driving, the car will completely shut down. One the car is placed back into park, it can be started again, but the issue happens again shortly after.

GM issued a recall on ignition switches on several of their vehicles around the same year as your due to the same issue, you may want to look into it
