Rear view blind spot

I have a white Mitsubishi Spyder with a black top. I love it. It has been perfect
since 2008. Now I have a son who would like to have it - he is 16. The only
issue you besides turning radius is that I have a hard time seeing out the back
when in reverse. I really don't want my son to hit anything or anybody. Any
suggestions?

Or tell him only to back up with the top down ;)
