2008 buick lucerne over heating

Headed to work this morning and about 15 min into my drive my car overheated
signal came on and said overheating turn car off.  lifted hood and car is making
a hissing sound

I have a 2008 Buick Lucerne replaced thermostat radiator and intake gasket but the needle in my car is still trying to go above the middle line like it wants to run hot it never gets extremely hot but if my fans didn't work it would definitely over heat what could it be
