Hi Baird. My 2007 Solstice GXP just started doing this in the past couple of weeks. I haven't figured out the exact cause yet, but it seems the vent tube for the gas tank is somehow blocked. I'll post again if I figure it out.

I eventually had an old Pontiac dealer clean out the gas tank vent tube. It seems there were a ton of cobwebs in there blocking the air from coming out when the gas was going in. It was just labor, no parts, and presumably if you had the knowledge and tools it could be done yourself. It has worked well now for awhile.

To access the evap canister without dropping the tank (and differential) remove the carpet from the trunk area. You'll need to disconnect the plug on the trunk light, which is attached to the carpet as well as pulling the convertible top drains up from the floor. A screw holds the rubber drain down. Then use a dremel tool to cut the fiberglass top above the fuel tank. There is a casting line about 1 to 2 inches from the top. Just follow the line and then cut up and across the top at one of the molded grooves in the cover. Since it's made of fiberglass, it can be reinstalled by using JB weld to attach a flange made of a stiff material then attach the removed piece to the flanged area. It should just drop into place with a bead of JB weld to hold it in place. Fill the gap with JB weld as well.
