2008 Pontiac Grand Prix door locks

Asked by GrandPrix827 Jul 07, 2020 at 07:51 PM about the 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This has been happening since I got my car around
February: when I use the key fob or switch in the
car to lock/unlock the doors sometimes it doesn’t
work. I’ve seen the problem before and the solution
was pretty clear: Actuators. BUT, if I take the key
out of the ignition it unlocks every single time by
itself, which leads me to believe its not the actuator.
I really don’t want to waste money on an actuator
and have it not fix the problem. Any help is much
appreciated.

Could also be the body control module. Find a shop that can scan the body control module. Not all shops have sophisticated enough equipment to do that so it might have to be done at the dealership. They can help you find the problem and give you and estimate to fix it and then you can decide whether to do it yourself, have them do it, or just live with it.

Maybe mess around with your display in middle of dash and under 'personalization' or 'customization' you can change all that stuff, like when your doors lock/unlock. I didn't realize I could do that until recently.
