2008 Timing Chain issue

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello,
My 2008 Saturn Vue has 100,500 miles & the check engine light keeps
coming on.  I was told the timing chain needs replaced at $1,200-$1,600 plus
I need a new power steering pump quoted at $480.00.  I don’t think the car is
worth putting the money into but my question is whether it is safe to drive the
way it is?  It is currently running fine.
Thank you :-)

If the timing chain rattles badly you may lose the engine. The power steering pump needs replacing for what reason?

Thank you! I thought I read that it is in fact a chain on this model but the mechanic that pulled the code from the computer does not do this type of repair so he was informing me as to why the CEL is coming on. The power steering pump needs replaced because it has a leak. They topped it off for me but it was making noises within a couple of days after.
