08 saturn vue

My son has a 08 saturn vue.  He had
been driving it earlier that day and
my husband had too. He wanted to
go visit his grandma's and when he
was ready to come home it wouldn't
start.  It was trying not to start to
begin with.  But it was acting like it
wouldn't turn over making that
wrrrrrr.... and if you let go and try
again it turned right over. But this
time it will not start and the steering
column gets hot.  What could be the
problem. Or what do I need to
replace?

Don't think the steering column has anything to do with it. Does it sound like the motor is turning over if not, it is probably just the starter selenoid.
