I have seen this before, the thermostat is usually the problem cause it isn’t totally closed, the other one is the coolant temperature sensor, it’s sending the wrong signal to the computer.
The "motor hot a/c off" message is there for a reason. No matter what the cause, it'll go away after you fix the overheating problem... Duh!
