I feel a binding in the rear end even when in 2wd

Asked by Randy Mar 06, 2019 at 12:00 PM about the 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty Lariat Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After driving for a few miles, and only at slow speeds, my truck feels like it is in
4wd (binding in rear), even though it is in 2wd. Could this be my rear end going
out or the gears?

I don't know if I do, I never heard of one. I'll have to check. But I will say I don't have the problem until I drive a few miles (10 or so). 4wd works fine as well when I engage and lock in front hubs. I'll check on the rear axle and report back.

If you have the limited slip axle you may need to change the gear oil and put in the Ford friction modifier.
