I am getting a thumping noise from the rear end.

I have a 2007 Ram with 83K miles. When I am coasting I am getting a thumping noise out of the rear end. It is not noticeable when I am accelerating.

Could also be the differential, or a separated tire (one with a shifted belt). Best bet is to let a professional check it for you for free. Second opinons are also a good idea if, for example, they aren't able to physically show you the failure, or any part of their explanation sounds suspicious to you. Make sure that you don't sign anything with an Inspection price on it as well...sometimes, rarely, a company may mislead you into believing that a service is free, but when you decline to commit to any work, spring an Inspection Charge on you. Though this is not a good or reputable business practice, I imagine that it is happening somewhere at some point now.

Thanks for the info guys. I found the problem last night. The lug nuts were not tighten properly. Merry Christmas......
