Drivers Door Main Power Switch for the Windows and Locks works intermitantly

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 07 Silverado 1500 LT, where the main drivers door power switch works some of the times and other not. I've checked all wiring and is okay. I thought I would change out entire switching mechanism (which is not a problem for me) however, I am being told that once it is replaced it has to be "activated" by a trained technician...has anyone else run across needing to have it specially activated due to some electronic chip in the vehicle itself?
Any help is appreciated before I purchase the switch component. Thanks
Jker

I have never heard that a new power door switch has to be activated by a trained technician. I did the repair in my 2005 Ford Five Hundred and there was no problem at all. If GM vehicles need a door switch "activating" technician this is news to me.
