Should I replace apex seals, etc inside of engine?

Asked by Rx8queen Sep 14, 2018 at 01:54 PM about the 2005 Mazda RX-8 6-Speed

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My husband bought my dream car for me as a
birthday present. Rx8. Only problem I dont know
when the last time it was actually taken care of.
So here is my main question. Should I replace
everything inside the engine, Apex seals, etc?
There are other things that needs replaced also.

I would not replace the seals unless they are bad. You can do routine maintenance like changing fluids, hoses. filters etc.

The only issue is the engine makes a knocking sound when I start it up. White smoke comes out. I never worked on a rotary engine. Always been a jz motor.
