2005 Subaru Forester

Asked by gmuli Mar 01, 2019 at 01:42 AM about the 2005 Subaru Forester XT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Subaru Forester that has been making loud knocking sound and
no power in acceleration. A mechanic looked at and said I would need to
replace the engine. What would be the cost to rebuild the engine instead of
replacing it?

1 Answer

The cost to rebuild will be more than the car is worth. A used engine might be what you want but if the car is super clean and has low miles rebuilding might be the thing to do if you plan on keeping it.
