My 2006 Dodge Charger SRT 8 has a blown engine. Where is a good place to find a rebuilt engine for it?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is it worth replacing the engine? Would it sell for anything without a running
engine?

Most salvage yards may have engines from a low-mileage wreck, and some yards will even install it with a short warranty on the work (around 6 months or so). Just call around. These are not rebuilt engines however, just pulled from a scrapped or wrecked car. Rebuilt engines will run you quite a bit more, places that carry them will sell you a rebuilt motor and you would turn your old one over to them as a core (if they don't do the install you would still need to find an installer). You can also have your own engine rebuilt, however this would be the most expensive route to go. Finally you can sell your vehicle with a blown motor as a "fixer upper" or project car, but you won't get much for it obviously. Check the car's blue book value, then deduct the engine repair costs from it and see if the car is worth it. A $2,000 car with a blown motor may not be worth trying to fix just to sell, as it is likely to cost you that much to swap in a used motor. And a rebuilt motor will run you 2K+, and rebuilding your own double that. However you might get 1K for it as a project car, and that may be the best way to go. (I actually don't know the BB value of your particular car, so just threw that number out there). Just figure a blown motor deducts about 2K from whatever the BB value is. Check the blue
