Can i put 10w 30 oil in my 06 charger

Asked by Dcharger06SE Jul 31, 2019 at 10:50 AM about the 2006 Dodge Charger SE RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I need to change out my oil in my 06 charger oil cap on the
car says 5w20. Oil type. Iv had 5quarts of new syntehic high
milage 10w30 engine oil laying around i had bought when i
bought a 03 cadillac cts few months back ended up junking
the caddy and now have this oil i cant return. Will it cause
issues to the engine and performance putting it in my 2.7L
engine? its already not the greatest engine as it is lets be
honest 2.7Ls wasnt built or designed that great already on
Dodges.. And iv had issues with the car since day one of
purchases the fucking thing...does anyone have any idea
what would cause my tranny to bang when down shifting at
about 20 MPH while slipping? Its been slipping on me since i
bought the car back in 2008 but was always while
accelerating to 25-30 mph. But did not bang as hard as its
banging now... Which it still does accelerating after stopping
at a light.... The major slip when braking while its down
shifting as well is whats new... Never had that issue.. During
slips it never lost horse power.. Im losing very little power but
noticeably enough horse power. its cranking 3,000 +RPMs
while trying to speed up to 30 mph when the tranny slips i
dont try accelerating when it happenes but always enough
seems to happen when i need to gain some speed always
after im at a complete stop... Im not having any new issues
with my motor when idleing but noticing a low amounts of it
buring oil... That's why im asking if putting the 10w30 in when
i change the oil will be a major problem
