Dodge charger 2006 Base., shudders when at a stop, hesitation when light accelerating

Asked by GuruCCHMZ Feb 17, 2019 at 05:36 PM about the 2006 Dodge Charger SE RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 06 Charger 2.7L and for the past month it has been shuddering
when I'm idle at a red light or stop sign, and even shuts off at times. I'v taken
it to 3 different mechanics with very little solution. I had the fuel pump
replaced, thermostat, new battery, map sensor spark plugs helped a little but
the engine shut off again 2 days later. Changed the pcm as well since I know
thats common issue with Dodge. The mechanic said it runs a little better and
the engine light is back on to help us determine what codes are on but they
keep changing randomly. He also cleaned the fuel system and exhaust pipes
as well. Anybody know what else can be done?? I'm open for any
suggestions at this point

A clogged muffler, resonator, or catalytic converter could cause it to act this way as well. That would be my next stop in troubleshooting. Not the cheapest route as it can get costly. But of the 3 the resonator is the cheapest. Good Luck.

This happens to mine as well and when i stop completely at a red light, it sometimes feels like someone hit me from behind but no. I haven’t changed anything yet, but I’m thinking it’s the fuel pump because mostly, it’ll shudder when the gas is at half tank or less. It’s turned off on me quite a few times, but turns right back on, and when it turns off no lights turn off with it everything is still on except for the engine I believe. Can anyone help me with this? Or have any idea what it may be?
