You may need to complete a drive cycle. What is the problem?

I had a rebuilt transmission put in and it’s ready for pick up and the mechanic told me I’ll need to drive it 200 miles to set the computer

He’s saying in order for it to pass inspection I’ll need to drive it so that the computer can reset, otherwise it will not pass inspection since he has just out the rebuilt transmission in. Also when I went to pick it up and my husband drove it, he said that now it sounds like the engine is about to fall out. It was sounding like that before
