Oil pressure light

My oil pressure light come on today and
shortly after I could hear a noise in the
engine. If I turn it off then start it the noise
stops but will return what could it be

Have you checked your oil level using the dip stick in the engine bay and check the oil cap on the engine if everything seems fine then start your car and take unscrew the oil cap while the engine is running to check if there's a blow by some engines have a small amount of air pushing out especially diesel engines but it it's strong air pushing out then your cylinder rings might be the cause
