Will a 2004 Subaru Impreza outback motor
swap easily into a 2003 Subaru Outback
legacy without any major changes ?

If the engines are both EJ25 it will probably work. Get the engine wiring and ECU with the donor engine.

    its a 2000 Subaru outback 2.5 it knocks for about twenty seconds after starting then stops. it runs fine after thirty seconds or so. I have synthetic oil in the motor which has 177.000 miles
