I have owned a Tahoe and Yukon. You might want to check the drive shaft collar. I had a popping or loud thump noise in what I thought was the front end. Turned out to be that the drive shaft was moving a fraction of an inch when I turned or stopped. It is a problem with Yukons, Tahoes, etc. The tech. told me that they put the wrong kind of grease around the collar and it would not hold up. They greased the problem area and the popping stopped. If you are absolutely sure it is coming from the front drivers side wheel, its probably a tie end rod needs greasing or it is bent. Hope this helps. ALSO, I had to have the drive shaft greased about every 6 months to keep it from klunking or popping.

What kinda grease did they lube the collar with? JW I have the same problem. A popping noise after putting I to gear and driving.
