Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The low oil pressure light has been coming on
lately once I crank my truck, along with some
tapping noise. When I start driving the tapping
goes off and light goes off. What could this be?

It's an oil pressure problem Remove oil pan , check # 1 main bearing and crank jurnol for wear to determine if It's worth fixing If those look good Replace the oil pump with a high volume pump, clean oil pan and oil pick-up tube and a new oil filter Failure to fix this problem will result complete engine failure resulting in having the engine replaced
