From what I know there were many variations of that tranny for different vehicles over the years and some just sucked with inherent problems , Maybe a real professional shop could help or move on to something newer

If it’s slipping then you have no choice but replacement or rebuilding as the damage is already done.

The three grand the truck's worth will be eaten up by replacing the trans. Maybe the fluid's just low or dirty, or maybe it's a faulty shift solenoid. Have a transmission pro diagnose this. Vehicles don't live forever, you know.

This is typical GM. Time to move on. A friend had a similar problem with his Blazer. He spent (wasted) the money to have the transmission replaced. The truck ran great for about two days. Then the same thing happened. Slipping, jerking, check engine light on again with the same transmission codes. He wound up junking it and buying something else. He lost a few thousand dollars on that deal. Learn from his mistakes!! Replace the vehicle!! Jim
