Code P0171 and P0174 Along with P0430 (Pending)

Asked by Plong123 Apr 12, 2014 at 10:32 AM about the 2004 Lincoln Navigator Ultimate 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello:

183k miles on 2004 Navigator. Had it for a long time and is well maintained.  Started
running very rough and loud (sounds like a diesel engine) and stalled when cold. Took it
to a fairly trustworthy mechanic who listened to the engine and said the "engine is
coming apart" you should go get a new car. Just wondering if there were engine issues
would different codes start to come on ? Oil looks fine, no smoke from engine etc ?
Could this be an intake leak coupled with an exhaust system problem ? Any help is
appreciated. Thanks

Yes is very well could be. 0430 code is probably an exhaust leak. The 0171 and 0174 are lean conditions on bank 1&2. This could cause a spark knock sound. Check out above links for helpful info.
