2007 Infinity FX35 trunk close assist issue

Has anyone had a problem or had to repair the assist close on the rear
hatch?  Someone slammed my trunk and now it does not work.  I took out the
fuse on the drivers side which controls to see if it would reset and it still does
not work.  The hatch sometimes does not open once closed.  Works
intermittently.

ended up taking to dealership and they replaced the motor in the hatch for the assist close which was 700.00.
