how to identify rear heater core for ford freestyle

Asked by James Mar 26, 2018 at 05:29 PM about the 2007 Ford Freestyle SEL AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My rear heater core is clogged, so no heat.  Mechanic says his sources can't locate a replacement.  Searching online turns up many options, but I can't be sure they are the correct part.  Where can I find the correct dimensions and shape?

The rear heat blows from the left side, near floor level, just behind the passenger door. When I have tested the rear climate controls in the past, heating only comes from that vent, and AC only comes from the ceiling vents. (This is separate from the vents in the back of the front seat center console/armrest. Those are controlled by the climate controls for the front.)
