15-16 MPG --- http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymodel/2006_Ford_Explorer.shtml

the four wheel drive vehicles DO get less gas mileage, because of the added weight of the transfer case. Enjoy the luxury that you've chosen for yourself, still runs...I wouldn't complain about MPG.
