Vehicle won’t stay running

Asked by Juan_L Sep 02, 2018 at 01:07 PM about the 2007 Ford Expedition XLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My vehicle will start, idle rough, and die. When I keep the
gas on, it stays one but idles rough. After a couple of
minutes, the smell of burning rubber and smoke came
under the hood.

May check your spark plug wire placement, could be touching exhaust and arching. See if your coil packs are cracked, have to remove them look at underside. Or could be electrical.

There are lots of reasons for it to run bad and it may not be connected to your issue with smoke & smell. Also if its antifreeze & steam smoke then look for leaks.
