Should I service my transmission oil at 133K miles even though its never been done before?

Asked by Master_735 Jan 31, 2017 at 06:32 AM about the 2007 Chevrolet Impala LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 Chevy Impala with 133K miles. The transmission has never been serviced. I've heard yes and no answers about changing it. I've heard that when its so far past due it could be harmful to change it.

All you need to do is change the fluid and filter if it has one, DO NOT FLUSH THE ENTIRE SYSTEM, this is where you can get into issues. Pull the plug and if you remove 5 quarts, just replace the 5 quarts that came out. You can do another fluid change in a few months.

I would do exactly as "COMETGUY61" suggested.
